Mrs Meherunissa Hamid

Research Fellow

United Kingdom

I am a qualitative researcher with a public health implementation background in low resource settings. My expertise include implementation of health care policy interventions, health systems strengthening research and practice, health policy, and decolonizing global health. I have extensive experience advising on Sexual and Reproductive Health/Tuberculosis research and implementation programmes.

I am also a DrPH (Doctorate of Public Health) student in the Department of Global Health and Development, Faculty of Public Health and Policy. As part of my DrPH Organisational Policy Analysis (RSI), I conceptualised and conducted a qualitative research study on the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) in Postgraduate Research Degree Admissions at LSHTM (2021-2022). Using semi-structured interviews and analysis of literature and policy documents, I examined LSHTM's formal processes and informal practices to identify existing inequities and bias in the admissions procedures. The report from the study includes recommendations for addressing these issues at various levels. My Research Study (RSII) is titled "Challenges Faced by Women in Social Care Workforce: A Focus on Gender and Race Intersectionality in Training Reforms, with Emphasis on the 2023 English Social Care Sector'".

Previously, at the School, I was a Research Assistant (part time) on the The Adult Social care Staff Evaluation of Reforms to Training (ASSERT) project funded by NIHR (PI - Prof Shereen Hussein).

I am particularly interested in and keen on exploring internal and external factors contributing to inequities in the implementation of policy interventions that impact a range of individuals from different contexts and settings.
