Before the COVID-19 pandemic turned the academic calendar upside down, the Selskapet til Vitenskapenes Fremme (Society for the Advancement of Science) at the University of Bergen invited John Manton from the Centre for History in Public Health to give a lecture on May 13th, on leprosy research in late nineteenth century Bergen and mid-twentieth century Nigeria. The shutdown of the university’s public buildings forced the cancellation of events in March and April, but the Society was keen to find a way to resume activities. We arranged to record a lecture and slideshow, including music, a short talk, and film excerpts. The resulting 22 minute video was posted on the Society’s event webpage on the Monday before the original scheduled date, and the Society hosted a Zoom Q and A with Dr Manton at the scheduled time. The audience had watched the video, and we had an interesting and wide-ranging ninety minute discussion, which, together with the video, is now archived on the Society website at:
