The award of this programme recognises the quality of the long standing research collaborations between one of the world's leading schools of public health and one of the UK's major medical schools.

The , funded by the UK Medical Research Council (MRC), will provide high-quality PhD training across the spectrum of biomedical and public health research.

Students will benefit from funding for a period of three and a half years with opportunities for interdisciplinary training and professional internships during their studies.

Professor , Director of the Partnership at the °®ÍþÄÌapp of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, said: "This award will provide at least 10 studentships each year to train the research leaders of the future in crucial areas of global health including infectious diseases, causal inference from large data sets and evaluation of complex health interventions, and to support them as they develop their professional networks and initiate their research careers".
