I am a social anthropologist with a research focus on masculinity, health and social media, and I am currently part of the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team. With over a decade of ethnographic experience in Central Asia, my work has explored how gender and health intersect in everyday life. I am now extending this research to Sub-Saharan Africa to examine the socio-cultural dimensions of infectious disease outbreak responses.

Research
My current role includes conducting and supporting social science research and capacity strengthening activities through working with various collaborators such as Africa CDC, Ministry of Health of Uganda, Makerere University and the University of São Paulo.
I co-design and co-lead research projects within the UK-PHRST Social Science team through collaborating with other UK-PHRST teams and external collaborators across Africa and Latin America. A critical part of my responsibilities involves disseminating and applying research through publications, conference presentations, policy reports and community engagement initiatives. My current projects include:
(1) Gender and IPC measures among female health care workers in Brazil (Co-lead)
(2) Challenges to local social scientists' participation in outbreak response in sub-Saharan Africa (Co-lead)
