Ms Danya Arif Siddiqi

Honorary Assistant Professor

United Kingdom

I am a development practitioner with a strong focus on public health, particularly maternal and child health and vaccine access. My work centres on improving equitable access to healthcare through evaluating and scaling up evidence based maternal and child health interventions.

In additional to a long-term programme of work in Pakistan, over the past 10 years I have also worked with partners in Bangladesh, South Africa, Philippines, UK and USA.

I hold an Undergraduate degree in Economics from Pakistan, followed by a Master’s degree in Development Management from the °®ÍþÄÌapp of Economics (LSE) as a Commonwealth Scholar. This dual focus allows me to analyze healthcare challenges through both economic and development lenses. I am currently based in London.

Research

My research is aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes in low-resource settings. My work spans both large-scale service delivery as well as focused research efforts. On the service delivery side, I provide technical assistance to Governments and help strengthen health systems. Within research, I conduct qualitative and quantitative studies, including randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to generate evidence for interventions that promote equitable healthcare access and improve maternal and child health outcomes.

Broadly, my research efforts are focused towards vaccine-preventable diseases, economic incentives, gender inequity in immunizations, electronic immunization registries, big data and geospatial analysis, and operational research. I'm particularly interested in harnessing innovative technological solutions including mHealth tools to address healthcare challenges effectively.
