I am an Associate Professor in the Nutrition Group at LSHTM. I have a joint appointment as a Senior Research Fellow at Rothamsted Research. My research focuses on improving human nutrition outcomes through agriculture and food system interventions. I teach on the MSc Nutrition for Global Health, and I am an academic advisor for the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.

My research focuses on identifying effective and equitable ways to improve nutrition outcomes through agriculture and food system interventions.
I lead LSHTM's contribution to the MAPS project, which is developing an online tool to improve access to data on micronutrient status of populations and food systems, and enables users to explore the potential effectiveness of different interventions in sub-Saharan Africa.
I was co-lead investigator on the GeoNutrition project, informing strategies to alleviate micronutrient deficiencies (MNDs) primarily in Ethiopia and Malawi, through (1) mapping micronutrients in soils, crops and people, and (2) testing interventions to alleviate MNDs. I led the AHHA trial in Malawi, showing that selenium deficiency can be effectively alleviated in a rural Malawi population through consumption of maize enriched with selenium fertilisers.
Much of my work involves integrating and analysing large-scale spatial datasets. Sometimes my work is field-based, including implemention of the AHHA trial and, in previous projects, conducting agronomic trials and soil/crop sampling.
