Dr Hilary Davies-Kershaw PhD, RD, RNutr

Hilary is an established nutrition epidemiologist & registered dietitian. Her work focuses on a life course perspective of nutrition within 2 distinct areas; older adults and maternal & child health. Her expertise includes mixed methods research, mother-child cohort studies, clinical dietetics and analysing longitudinal datasets (including English Longitudinal Study of Ageing, Hospital Episode Statistics, The Health Improvement Network and SUAAHARA). She joined LSHTM in 2019 and is an Assistant Professor and Programme Director of the MSc Nutrition for Global Public Health. Prior to joining, she worked in academia (UCL, University of Surrey and St Mary's University), NGO (Philani Nutrition Centre) and the NHS. She was part of the UKRI GCRF funded Action Against Stunting Hub Study (India, Indonesia and Senegal). Together with Elaine Ferguson, Alissa Pries and Sara Strout, the Nutrition workstream are responsible for protocol development, capacity building and training for the collection and statistical analysis of the following: dietary intake, anthropometry, blood, hair cortisol, breastmilk, maternal stress, social support and depression. Together with Elaine Ferguson, Marko Kerac and Charles Opondo, she is currently working with ELRHA (Enhancing Learning and Research for Humanitarian Assistance) to develop a multi-country undernutrition prevention intervention.
